Between wild cats and birds!

Always I have loved the zoos. I believe that it is the only place in the city where we can see a part of the whole wild life that exists in our planet. Really, to be in a small clinic and to attend Poodles is not what attracts me of this career, but to be able to help to all those animals that need my help indeed.

For me, to be in a zoo would be the perfect work... To be able to take care of wild animals must be amazing! Being there, I might help with my preparation as veterinary to treat and avoid diseases in birds and felines (Yes, I love that animals!), giving them a home and the essential care for a life good at an artificial environment, worrying about his physical and psychological well-being in order that the persons could know them in ideal conditions.

I would want to work from monday until friday, to be able to share the weekends with my boyfriend and my family (the future is never known, until it comes!), in the schedule established in the zoo... I believe that it must be between 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. or 7 p.m., depending on the winter and summer schedule, and all these things that actually I don't know. I prefer not thinking about a boss... Be my own boss would be the best, but in a zoo it is a bit difficult!

To give a better life to the animals in captivity is my dream, in this way is possible to know more about its behavior and simultaneously, we can save them from the extinction with programs of reproduction and liberation to the wild life in some cases.

That's my dream! To work between birds and wild cats!
Hope you like it!

This term has a little things about veterinary... Chemistry, maths, orientation, english... but, the subject that I love is animal diversity (Called Zoology too).

Zoology is, by far, the most interesting (for me, obviously) subject this term! Known the different animals living in the planet is a kind of passion to me! All tuesdays in the morning we have animal diversity, and the teacher changes depending the topic that we'll have to study. They are experts in the areas! (Like Amphibians, fishes, nematodes, etc). In addition, fridays in the afternoon some of us have animal diversity's laboratories, where we can see different kinds of animals! Last week I opened a fish! It was amazing!!!!!!!!

With this subject, I can understand and learn about different forms of life in our planet, and its characteristics and unique forms, adaptation and way of life to, in the future, apply some things in my career. The world isn't only cats, cows, horses and dogs.

So, I like this subject because I can learn about all animals in general and it give the opportunities to know wild animals and to fix my curiosity about the world! It is the best!

Greetings!!!

The good trainer

I really have not any person who I admire in this career... Enter to study Veterinary was a crazy idea that appeared inside my head one day last year. But if I choose someone, I choose Victoria Stilwell, who presents the Animal Planet dog training TV show It's Me or the Dog.

She was born in July 20, 1969 in Wimbledon, England. At first she was an actress, but one day her sister (A veterinary nurse) suggested Victoria to start a dog-walking aggency. And she did it. Working as a dog walking woman, she could see the problems to find a good professional to training her client's dogs. So, Victoria started to learn how to train a dog on a positive-reinforcement way. And now, she is one of most recognized and respected dog trainers in the world.

I admire Victoria because her way of training is perfect! She's so strict in the training and the permissions about what can do the dog and the owner and the things that are so prohibited! She said all the things (Positive and negative, obviously), and she doesn't really care if the owners are agree or disagree with the problems she detects in the pets of her clients, she only makes her work. The point is training a dog in a good way and to obtain the wished behaviour. It's the dog... or her. The name is perfect.

A new little student...

I started to study veterinary this year. That decision was so hard... and new! I wanna study veterinary because animals are pure creatures, without bad feelings against other species, they not have any guilty about all the bad things that suffer everyday of their lives. Helping people wasn't my way (I wanted to study medicine, but not now)... People are too selfish and rude to dedicate my life for them! That's the real reason: I wanna help, but not humans precisely.

I like the uni. It's a good place! My classmates are very nice, happy (The ones that I know), some ridiculous and warm. The classes are the best! I wanna enter a class and don´t lose the time like in the school. I hate schools, really. I don't like much to have all that hours of chemistry (Nine hours... NINE!!) but the things will be that must be.

I'm not yet a veterinarian, but in this little time, in this few weeks, I think that this decision is the best for me, and all animals that one day will need my help.

Hope you like it!

Hi! I`m Valeria Sotomayor, a starter student of veterinary in the University of Chile (In Chile, of course!). I live in Ñuñoa, Santiago of Chile (Again) with my mom, her boyfriend, my two brothers and my chinese hamster Emilia.I'm 18 years old, and this is my first year in the university.

I`m in a relationship with JP, and I really love him!!!

I like a lot drawing, reading and writing, and sometimes investigate some things that are wonderful to me... like cats, abisal creatures, cryptozoology, etc. I love cats a looooot <3!!!!
I don't like people so stupid, hyperactive dogs, physics, sometimes my brothers and finally the irresponsability.

I`m not a bad girl...!

I hope you like it

Yours truly...
